Steve Fowler – Chair of Trustees
Steve Fowler has been a Trustee of New Start since 2018 and was elected Chair of Trustees in 2025. Steve is passionate about supporting the work of New Start and helping the charity make a positive difference to patients, families and staff at Wythenshawe Hospital's specialist Heart and Lung Transplant Centre.
Bill Noble – Trustee
Bill Noble became a New Start Trustee in 2019, bringing with him both personal experience and a deep understanding of the transplant journey. Bill received a heart transplant in 2007 and has since gone on to achieve remarkable success at the World and British Transplant Games, winning numerous gold medals. His experiences as a transplant recipient and athlete give him a unique perspective and a strong connection to the patients and families supported by New Start.
Neil Eadie – Trustee
Neil Eadie became a New Start Trustee after receiving a heart transplant in 2014. Bringing his own experience of the transplant journey to the role, Neil is passionate about supporting New Start and helping the charity make a positive difference to patients and families at Wythenshawe Hospital's specialist Heart and Lung Transplant Centre.
Dr Paul Callan - Trustee
Dr Paul is a Consultant Cardiologist at Wythenshawe Hospital, with specialist interests in Advanced Heart Failure, Heart Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support. He has worked as a Consultant at Wythenshawe since 2016 and is also a Trustee of New Start. Paul is passionate about the life-changing impact that heart transplantation and long-term ventricular assist devices can have on people living with heart failure and their families, and is proud to support New Start's work in helping patients throughout their journey.
I love the variety in my job, and seeing the tremendous impact that heart transplant and long term ventricular assist devices can have for people living with heart failure, and their families.
Richard Wood - Trustee
Richard Wood became a New Start Trustee in 2023, bringing his own experience of the transplant journey to the charity. Richard received a heart transplant in 2015 and is passionate about supporting New Start's work to help patients and families at Wythenshawe Hospital's specialist Heart and Lung Transplant Centre.
Jane Nuttall – Trustee and Transplant Coordinator
Jane has been a New Start Trustee since 2025 and a Transplant Coordinator at Wythenshawe Hospital, bringing valuable professional experience and a close understanding of the transplant journey to her role with the charity. Jane is passionate about supporting patients and families throughout the transplant process and helping New Start make a positive difference to the specialist Heart and Lung Transplant community.
Mr Vipin Mehta - Trustee
Mr Vipin Mehta is a Consultant in Cardiac Surgery, specialising in Heart and Lung Transplantation and Aortic Surgery. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester, combining his clinical expertise with a commitment to education and training. Vipin was elected as a New Start Trustee in 2025 and brings his specialist knowledge and experience to the charity's work supporting patients, families and staff at Wythenshawe Hospital's Heart and Lung Transplant Centre.
Michael Hill - Trustee Treasurer
Michael is an Accountant and joined New Start as a Trustee in 2025, taking on the role of Trustee Treasurer. Michael brings his financial expertise and experience to the charity, helping to ensure that New Start's resources are managed responsibly and effectively so that we can continue to support patients, families and staff at Wythenshawe Hospital's specialist Heart and Lung Transplant Centre.
