The Transplant Games give transplant recipients of all ages the opportunity to stay active, discover new sports, build confidence, make lasting friendships and enjoy the thrill of competition alongside people who share their experiences. Participants compete as part of their hospital teams, creating a fantastic sense of camaraderie while celebrating the gift of life.

In August 2026, more than 2,500 transplant recipients from across the UK took over Sheffield city centre to take part in 24 different sporting activities. From swimming and athletics to cycling and team sports, the Games showcase the incredible achievements of transplant recipients and demonstrate just how much can be achieved after transplantation.

We were particularly proud to see Team Wythenshawe achieve an outstanding result, bringing home an incredible 15 gold, 9 silver and 4 bronze medals. Their fantastic performance saw the team named Best Heart and Lung Team at this year's Games - a remarkable achievement and one that reflects the dedication, determination and spirit of every athlete who took part.

At New Start, we are delighted to support the team and help celebrate the positive difference that transplantation can make to people's lives. The Transplant Games are a powerful reminder that transplantation is not simply about extending life — it is about helping people get back to doing the things they love, setting new goals and making the most of every opportunity.

Congratulations to everyone in Team Wythenshawe on an incredible Games! We are proud to stand alongside you and look forward to celebrating many more achievements in the future.
